Kat Napolitano, of KatNap Fitness, joins Mark Alyn on Late Night Health Radio to talk about role models in fitness. Think these things don't make a difference? Think again!
Role models still affect us all at any age and this is particularly true in the fitness world where we are still only seeing skinny, chiseled and muscled trainers to inspire us to workout. But statistics show that this isn't working. 60% of American adults still don't get the recommended amount of physical activity, and over 25% of adults are not active at all.
There is a sea change in many industries of more realistic role models for body image starting to appear. Oprah is probably the most well-known headliner to bring a new image to health and weight loss as the new face of Weight Watchers and it is making a major impact. For the FIRST TIME EVER, Sports Illustrated put a curvy model on one of the covers (you go Ashley Graham!) Barbie just launched a new line of dolls to reflect the changes in what we see as beauty.

Acid Reflux is much more common than thought. Jamie Koufman, M.D. revisits Late Night Health and explains to Mark the difference kinds of reflux and how she has had great success in working with patients with this disorder. Dr. Jamie Koufman joins Mark Alyn to talk about her new book, Dr. Koufman’s Acid Reflux Diet: With 111 All New Recipes Including Vegan & Gluten-Free, which provides essential information for fighting reflux by combating food additives and unhealthy eating habits. Running counter to the medical mainstream, Dr. Koufman introduces a paradigm shift in reflux treatment through a diet that promotes weight loss, health maintenance, and disease prevention centered on lean, clean, green, and alkaline eating. Not only an ideal new alternative to reflux treatments prescribed by other doctors, Dr. Koufman’s Acid Reflux Diet is also the never-need-to-diet-again diet.
With acid reflux and reflux-related diseases affecting nearly half of Americans and a terrifying jump in reflux-caused esophageal cancer — it is time to make a change. That process begins not in the medicine cabinet, but in the pantry.
Combining 35 years of work in the field of acid reflux, including scientific research and the treatment of thousands of patients at the Voice Institute of New York, Dr. Jamie Koufman has identified the causes and the cures for this much-misunderstood health crisis. Her new book teaches reflux sufferers how to conquer their condition and emerge healthier than ever.
Dr. Koufman’s Acid Reflux Diet features 111 new recipes to help readers on the path to health. Recipes are divided by dish type, with ideas for breakfast, soups, salads, sides, entrées, snacks, desserts, and kitchen staples. Plenty of vegan and gluten-free options are provided, making the recipe collection sure to please a wide range of readers.

Isabella Cuda, staring in "Eternal Salvation" was born with Spinal Bifida. Isabella Cuda is 10 year old actor who is featured in the Christian film "Eternal Salvation". Born with Spina Bifida, Isabella's parents were told that their daughter would never walk. After surgeries by Presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson, Isabella not only walks, she dances and plays golf as a member of the Junior PGA. She visits with Mark about her life on stage, Television and Film, while thanking Dr. Carson and God for helping her have a healthy life.
Isabella was born in Virginia and has dual US/Swiss citizenship. Because of God's grace and having endured 2 major spinal cord surgeries she is completely healed. After moving to California, her parents enrolled 4 year old Isabella in a children's theater troupe where she discovered her passion for acting. While having dinner at a restaurant one night, she pretended to be a waitress and took orders from the customers. One of the customers happened to be a talent agent and was immediately impressed by her outgoing personality. 6 months later she booked her first national commercial with pro golfer Phil Mickelson with many commercials and TV shows to follow. That's when she discovered her other passion for golf and made a PGAJr. Team at 7 years old. When she is not acting or golfing, Isabella enjoys playing dress up with her friends, karaoke, hip hop, ballet and spending time with her cat Graycie . Luckily her family enjoys free flight benefits and gets to explore the world. Her favorite vacation spots are Switzerland and Croatia.
